do they know?

… it’s Christmas, after all. Or, er, almost.
Look, we all know that the sky is falling, and nobody has any money, and it’s a recession, and the last thing you need to do is give everyone in your life lots of random crap that they don’t need and accumulate gobs of crap for yourself.
Yes, I know, I’ve gone all Grinch. Bah, humbug, I say.
It’s the truth: I’m anti-materialism (hard to believe, given where I come from, but what can I say? Call it the Africa effect).
I guess my feeling is that there are other ways to get into the holiday spirit.
My suggestion? Do. Something. Good.
Check it: One click here and you can save Philly’s libraries.
Go on. Click. It’s easy. You don’t even have to get out of bed to do it. But that warm fuzzy vibe will last the whole season long, I assure you.
And if you absolutely, positively, need to spend some cash? May I humbly suggest that you do so at your friendly neighborhood independent bookstore?
Thanks. And have fun decking those halls.
